Bali Island, a Small Island but a Famous Tourist  Destination in the World

    Bali With The World, INDONESIA. Bali Island is one of thousand islands in Indonesia. Although it is a small island, it is one of the famous tourist destinations not only in Indonesia but also in the world because it has various cultures, customs, unique traditions, and beautiful tourist objects. Bali Island is located between Java Island and Lombok Island. It consists of several small islands like; Nusa Penida, Nusa Ceningan, Nusa Lembongan, Serangan, and Menjangan islands. The name of Bali Island comes from the word “Wali”, in Sanskrit it means “Upakara or Ceremony”. Therefore, the life of Balinese people could not be separated from the activities of religious ceremonies. 

    The majority of Balinese people are Hindu. Most of them work in tourism, industry, agriculture, and fishery. Bali has a thousand temples spread over the island hence it is also “The island of thousand temples or the island of Gods”. Bali island consists of 710 villages, 57 districts, 8 regencies, and 1 capital, it is Denpasar. The eight regencies are: 

1.         Karangasem           5. Badung

2.         Bangli                    6. Tabanan

3.         Klungkung             7. Jembrana 

4.         Gianyar                  8. Buleleng 

    Each regency has its own uniqueness and tourism potencies, several of them are; 

1. Gianyar Regency. This regency is famous as the center of art in Bali and rich for its handicraft products, beautiful and historical tourist objects, like Tirtha Empul temple, Penataran Sasih temple, Samuan Tiga Temple, Kebo Edan temple, Bukit Dharma Kutri Temple, Gaduh temple and so on. 

2. Bangli Regency. This regency is famous for its beauty of the mount of Batur and Batur lake views. Besides, it is also famous for its Trunyan village or sometimes also called ‘Bali Aga Village’ (a traditional village that still keeps on ordinary life). 

3. Klungkung Regency. This regency is famous for the beautiful views of its white sandy beaches and coral reefs. Besides, it is also famous for the traditional food of Srombotan, handicraft products, and the historical building of Kerta Gosa. 

4. Karangasem Regency. This regency is famous for the beauty of its white sandy beaches of Candi Dasa, Tulamben, and Amed. Besides it also has other tourist objects, like; Tirtha Gangga, Taman Ujung, the traditional village of Tengenan, and the greatness of Lempuyang and Besakih temples.
